Darkoa has been practicing for over 20 years, in and outside the United States. She initially trained with and worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers-IAS and KPMG-IES in Tokyo for almost ten years, during which she concentrated her work and training on the preparation of Japanese and U.S. income tax returns. She then established her own private tax practice near Frankfurt/Main Germany, serving clients worldwide. She holds a BA in Business Administration and an MA in International Studies. She has significant experience of working with complex federal and state income tax returns, for taxpayers from all walks of life, including employees, business owners, investors, diplomats and high-net worth individuals. In addition, due to her multilingual skills, and her training and experience in one of the world's largest international expatriate tax practices, she is able to work with the tax return of any foreign country, in preparing a U.S.
income tax return.

Sumiko worked for many years with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), after studying accounting, business law and economics at the Santa Monica College in California. Before her studies, she worked for a Big4 accounting firm in Tokyo for a few years. She has also worked for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) VITA, assisting qualified taxpayers with the preparation of their tax returns at IRS Tax Centers in Texas during the U.S. busy season, over the last years.
